Baby Car Seats for new-borns
Infant car seats are suitable from birth up to 13kg. This is roughly 12 - 15 months of age. These car seats can be installed by a seat belt or isofix base in cars. They can also be attached to the frame of your pushchair by using adaptors.
Adding An Isofix Base
Most infant carriers can be seat belted into the car, but we would always recommend purchasing an isofix base. Each car seat has a specific isofix base which is only compatible with that seat. By purchasing an isofix base to use with your infant carrier it ensures minimal risk of incorrect installation, as indicators indicate a correct installation.
Infant Carrier on Pushchair Frame
All infant carriers can be popped onto the frame of your pushchair, using adapters. Again, similar to an isofix base, each brand has their own adapters that have been tested amongst different brand car seats and pushchairs. Especially in the early newborn stages having the option to pop your car seat onto the chassis is a life saver! No need to wake little one from their sleep to transition them from car seat to carrycot, simply pop the adapters onto the frame and sit the car seat into them.
It is important to note: make sure you purchase your infant carrier well before your due date as it is a requirement to have the car seat when leaving the hospital with your baby.
